Toris had to cover his mouth, trying desperately to keep from laughing out loud. He was still at work, after all. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see a few people eyeing the stand, unsure if it was open or not. A part of him wanted to ignore them, to send them away so he could spend more time with his friend, but that was unprofessional. He smiled at them, nodding towards the empty stools, before he turned back to Feliks. "Give me a second?"

He thought it was cute, the way Toris tried to control his laughter. He glanced over his shoulder at the brunet's waiting customers and laughed softly to himself. He nodded, taking a couple steps to the side so he'd be out of the way.

It wasn't cute, he was just trying to be professional. Once Feliks backed away, he was able to tend to the other customers rather quickly. He had them sit down as he started cooking. Feliks was still standing there, waiting for him to finish. There wasn't any harm in having him come behind the counter, was there? As long as he didn't touch anything, he figured it wouldn't matter. Toris smiled, motioning for him to duck under the partition. "C'mere."

Poland smiled, doing as the brunet motioned. He stood, glancing around. He flashed Toris a smile, before leaning in the corner.

Toris laughed, pulling the stool out from under the counter with his foot. "Have a seat. I won't be too long." He turned back to the stove, stirring the food to make sure it didn't stick to the pot.

He sat, hooking his ankle over his knee and smiling up at the brunet. "Okay," he said, watching him turn back to the stove. His thoughts wandered as he observed his old friend at work. What things had changed for Toris since he'd known him last? Which things were exactly the same? He supposed the only way to find out would be to spend some time with him.

The fact that he actually had to work now was probably the only thing that had changed about him. Though his family had never been wealthy, Toris had never wanted for anything and unlike a few of his classmates in Londinium, he never had to work after school. His father would just give him whatever money he needed (although, to be fair, Toris rarely ever asked his father for anything).
Once he'd prepared and served the food to his customers, he turned his attention back to his old friend. Since Feliks was perched on the stool, he leaned against the back counter, facing out towards the customers. "So how have you been?" Oh wait, had he already asked that?

Unfortunately for Toris, Feliks had most likely changed quite a bit more than he had in the last few years. The curves life had thrown at him had forced him to adapt in ways he was hardly aware of.
He smiled up at the brunet, brushing his hair back. "Like, good enough, I guess." He said, laughing softly. "You...?"

"Just good enough?" Toris laughed softly, smiling back at his old friend. "Well, I'm glad to see that you're all right." He was frustrated that he didn't really have anything to say to Feliks anymore. They hadn't seen each other in years and he had no idea what the other had been up to since then. Since he didn't really seem to want to talk about it, he wouldn't push.
"I've been all right. I've just been working here." He'd been doing nothing else for about two years, and he probably would continue to work there until he had enough money to get away from it. Toris spent most of the day working to earn just enough to buy groceries for the next day and to put a little bit of money away to pay the rent on his tiny flat. There were days when he made a little extra to put away for himself, but those days were few and far between.

It wasn't so much that Feliks didn't want to talk about it that this was almost like meeting Toris for the first time. When not on the job, the blond could be horribly shy. As they spend more time together (and indeed, he planned to spend all his free time at this both with his old friend) he would open up more.
"Mm," he replied softly, glancing at a spider who had made her home in the corner. He wasn't sure what to say from here and while he didn't wish to leave yet, he also felt oddly unwelcome and out of place.

It was starting to feel as though too much time had passed. They were practically strangers now, and Toris didn't like it. But there really wasn't too much that he could do about that. If he had more free time, he would be able to get reacquainted with his old friend.
He wasn't about to ask Feliks to come by the stand every day. Watching him cook for strangers probably wasn't that interesting. Toris was lucky that business was slow enough today that he had time to stop and chat. He would never intentionally make Feliks feel unwelcome, but he had run out of questions to ask and didn't know what else to say.

Feliks chewed his lip and squirmed a little, feeling unwanted. Seven years, he supposed, is a long time, and Toris probably has plenty of better things to do with his time. He still wished, though, that their schedules didn't conflict so much, that they might ease back into the close companionship that Feliks had so missed these past years. He sighed softly, almost inaudibly, fishing the watch out from his pocket.
"Hey," he mumbled as he checked the time, not looking up. "I like, gotta go, yeah?" In truth he had no appointments for awhile yet, but he just felt awkward, sitting and watching Toris work. He stood, half hoping the brunet would beg him to stay, or at least give him some free food or an address. He glanced unhappily at a couple eyeing the stand and hoped he would at some point catch his old friend alone.

Of course, he was probably keeping Feliks from something important. His friend probably had better things to do than to watch him cook food for other people. "Oh," he said, trying not to sound too disappointed. "All right." He smiled at his old friend, moving some things around so he could get out under the counter. "Don't worry about the food, okay? It's on the house."
Was it too soon to ask Feliks to visit again? Probably. Toris sighed, leaning on his elbows against the counter. "Will you come back?" He wanted to give Feliks his address, but for some reason he was too ashamed of his tiny, one room flat to do it. And Feliks might not want to give him his address. He seemed kind of reluctant to talk about himself.

He murmured thanks as he ducked under the counter, popping back up on the other side. He smiled at the taller man, worried he was coming off as unfriendly. He brushed his hair back, trying to laugh lightly.
"Of course," he replied, bouncing on his heels. Perhaps has he spent more time with Toris, he'd open up more and things would become less awkward. Hopefully, at least. "Is tomorrow good?"

Toris didn't know if tomorrow would be good. He never really knew how business would go until the day was half over. But he really wanted to see Feliks again, so he just nodded, smiling at his friend.
"Tomorrow is fine. What time do you think you'll be able to come around?" If he knew that, he might be able to take an hour or so off, depending on how many customers he had.

He smiled brightly, almost wanting to hug the other. He bounced, brushing his hair back behind his ear.
"Uhm, probably around two or so?" he said glancing at the watch in his pocket.

So right around the lunch rush. Fantastic. Toris nodded, smiling at his friend as he tried to plan out some sort of lunch break for himself in his head. "Around two then."
He wanted to reach over the counter to hug Feliks, but he was afraid that it would have been too strange. Instead, he started clearing away the empty plates on the counter, setting them aside. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
