Job Skills:
Romano has little to no useful skill. He is fast, extremely fast, when it comes to running and fleeing.
It has helped him trough many rough times. Despite the fact that he has been stealing for years, Romano mainly relies on that ability to get the hell out of there, whenever his hands weren't fast enough in snatching away items unseen. So perhaps a job skill could be living bait, or act as a decoy. Not exactly the job you would want, but you may never know when it comes in handy, am I right?
He's also a pretty good cook, to bad he never has the chance to.
Personality and short background:
It is fairly easy to describe Romano with one word; Pessimist. He always has been one, and seemingly will always be as well. There doesn't seem to much that Romano thinks highly of, and every situation is simply a new excuse for him to pick at and complain about, until there's nothing positive for anyone left to say about it. It's a strong trait of Romano that will show itself at any given moment, you would think the guy couldn't ever be happy, with his many complaints, his constant frowning and rude choice of words. Maybe. In reality he just finds there's little to be happy about, and he can't hold onto anything positive to safe his life. His generally grumpy attitude, with its matching expression, gets Romano some complaints, which, aside from a snarky comment, he seems to ignore it.
This is the only side he wants to be showing to others, which makes him appear as a cold and bitter individual. But if you dare to stick by him long enough, or if you gain his trust, you will see there's more to the boy. Romano is in reality pretty lonely and sensitive, a simple guy, who has learned that keeping up that angry mask was the best way to safe himself, from pain and disappointment. He acts like a child, with his many tantrums and demands, of which you'll learn are only to gain your attention. Instead of pulling people closer, he will push them away, and expect them to reach back out. There is still much the young man has to learn about dealing with others. But like any other being out there, he is in need of affection, yet he lacks the knowledge of how to gain it without causing trouble.
Roman can also be nice, and he truly cares for those who he has gotten comfortable with. Romano just hasn't learned yet how to properly show his own affection. While his mouth is shut tight when it comes to emotions, his eyes, expression and body language betray how he feels straight away. He never did seem to realize how much of a open book he actually is.
One could argue his current behavior is to blame on his childhood, he did used to be a somewhat happy kid in the first few years of his life. But no one would be able to remember those days. Things changed, for him and for others. New people came into his life and things went downhill from there. Or so Romano experienced it all.
When it comes to fighting, he's a coward, who more then often would run to someone else for help or safety. Or he would just run to avoid problems and danger in general. He doesn't seem to like fighting for himself, unless he absolutely has to. Romano prefers others doing his dirty work for him and wants for them to come trough for him whenever he asks, while he himself can either be unreliable, or simply completely useless. This doesn't mean Romano doesn't try, whenever he can get off his lazy ass that is, he just fails at what he does. (So he tells himself, anyway.)
All in all he can be affectionate (especially to women), in his own way, and he has his heart on the right place. His bad temper, bad mood and distrust for most others just makes it difficult for him to show this properly.
Other:
* Romano has no idea who he truly is. His past is a blur to him, with only bits and pieces clear to him. Everyone knows he shares his name with a very important figure, but like hell he is related, Right?
* Dispite popular believe, Romano does have a place of his own. A small room in the back of someone's house. Its a hell to get there, and unpleasent to try and get in, but it's his. He doesn't spend a lot of time there however, seems it takes a while to get back to places, such as the market and the docks from there.
--background--
The past, his past, is something Romano wants to forget. While unable to remember it clear as well, it was unpleasant. There are distant faces, accompanied by distant voices and flashes of familiar surroundings that plague him. What he does recall is that it was a lonely past, extremely lonely on his part. But he was wealthy, spoiled even, and for some time, Romano had been able enjoy the good life. A good and lonely life. Two people are strongly present in these memories as well, having a close relation to Romano, yet he is unable to place, or recognize them.
This might have caused his recklessness, which had triggered a chain of unfortunate events that would eventually carry him to where he is now. His memory of this events is even more clouded, so there is no saying what exactly went on in that time. Romano refuses to remember as well, knowing that time was unpleasant for him.
Despite the fact that he feels he had an unpleasant life after that, Romano had learned a lot from everything that happened to him. He posses some good skills and knowledge that most people of his status wouldn't have. Along with his age, this has helped him further along the line.
Romano is basically nothing more than a stealing beggar these days. Roaming around, going from city to city, trying to get enough money to get trough each day more comfortable than the last. People took pity on him, no matter where he went. The boy admits he hates it, but it gives him extra's as well. Many different items were given to him over the years because of this, to help him get along. Sadly, this was never enough for him. Romano grew greedy, and started to steal, in many different ways so he would be able to climb the social ladder and grow wealthier. Money was important if you wanted to live, and the more you had, the better. It's risky business, and Romano had been caught several times already after he had just began. But he grew better at what he did, more skillful at both the art of stealing, and fleeing.
His stolen goods would always find their way onto the underground markets and several shops. Being sold to 'just the right people' for just the right price. Well, that's what they said, but Romano would more than often be ripped off. It didn't really matter, as long as he got enough for whatever he sold anyway. Romano is still very much an amateur on this front, and it's unlikely he'll improve either.
As he went from town to town, he had run into pirates, the bloody bastards are everywhere, like rats. Romano hates and resents them for a unclear reason, yet he took great interest in their life style. It wasn't uncommon for him to follow them around, taking notice of their ways. While he truly hated the people involved, Romano took a liking to their lifestyle. They were free and able to take whatever they wanted to. Romano wants to live that life and quietly works on achieving his dream.
RP sample:
Cold rain carelessly hit the grounds below. Anything that did without a shield was soaked to the bone. This included humans, and Romano was groaning in annoyance at that fact. He was at the docks, a place where he had been lurking around for some days now. He did not know why, or actually, he did know why, but he told himself he didn't know. The last thing he wanted was admit to himself he was going back every night, in the faint hope of seeing some familiar faces, no matter how unpleasant they might have been. His arms were wrapped around himself, in a faint attempt to block out the cold water that seeped trough every layer of clothing. Romano couldn't possibly stay warm like this, and he knew, but the mere idea of warmth was enough to ignore the burning of his freezing skin.
Teeth clattered and eyes narrowed. “This is fucking useless!” he angrily shouted, giving a nearby barrel a kick. The brunette turned away, jumping at the loud, clattering noise the item made when it made contact with the ground short after. Shit, he didn't mean to kick it with such force. Romano looked around startled, hoping no one would have heard this noise. The last thing anyone would want to do is attract the wrong people in a place like this, at this time of night. As moments passed, it became clear no one had noticed the loud noise, or no one gave a damn. Whatever, the fact was that no one would come take a look at the cause. Romano was relieved at that, dropping his shoulders, allowing himself to relax a little more. No need to worry to much needlessly, he would remind himself.
It felt as if the rain was coming down with even more force than moments ago. It wouldn't get any better either, for as far Romano knew. The young man was walking around restlessly again, boots soaked and kicking up more water. Of course he was growing impatient, after spending so much time there, he had not been able to even see one familiar person. He knew some 'resided' here, and he would be damned if he couldn't catch a glimpse. Yes, it was important for him to know that these familiar faces were still around. It has a sense of...safety? Yes...Yes it was defiantly a sense of feeling safe when seeing someone who you think you know, when you normally spend every day by yourself.
He allowed one arm to drop by his side, which immediately reached trough a opening in his coat, heading towards his belt, making sure some of his possessions were still there. His hand touched the smooth leather surface of a certain book he had on his person at all times. Browns eyes scanned the docks with a hint of suspicion in them at that moment.
The bastard owner of this little thing was also last seen here. Crazy-ass pirate, Romano could recall, yet he smirked ever so slightly at the thought. It had been evident that that person would do whatever it took to get the book back, and there was profit to be made from exploiting that fact.
