Job Skills:
Gilbert got a good training when he was younger and has been practically training and fighting all his life. He has skills in both close- and far range combats, but enjoys the close-range way much more. He loves to being able to affect the battle on a short range, be it with a swordfight or just bare fists, but getting to actually see your enemy& target close and to use his own skills, is his speciality.
Captain Prussia is also good at strategy and planning of battles as this is what he has been thought from very young age and battles are what he lives for. He isn't that organized or good at strategies other vice, but when it comes to battle-formations, he knows what he's talking about.
One of his best skills, and also sometimes the worst, is his gift of speach. Well..it never ends, his talking. He is really good at getting in trouble because of his bad mouth but there are times when his talking-skills have also saved him, as impossible as that sounds.
Personality and short background:
On the outside, Gilbert is a pompous bastard who doesn’t give a damn of anyone but himself. From the inside…pretty much the same. Well, not exactly, but those are few of his most visible traits. And that’s before he opens his mouth and you’ll also know he has no decency or self-censoring when he speaks out.
Gilbert is indeed a bit of a persona, with a larger than life ego. He really loves himself and let’s other know it too. He loves being the center of attention in every situation and place and will do almost everything to achieve that. He tends to have hard time keeping his mouth shut as he really needs the attention he gets from being as loud as he is. He really likes to take his place in a room from the moment he walks in.
He is a quite active person who hated getting bored. That is one of the worst fates he could be sentenced as, being bored and having nothing to do. He also enjoys quarrelling and picking up fights and gets quite bit of an entertainment from that. He hates being ignored or alone. He would never say it aloud, but deep inside, he somewhat needs the attention just because he really doesn't cope with being alone. He's pompous and loud about how he needs nobody but really he just wants to be surrounded by people. His job as a pirate-captain is just suiting this perfectly since captain is never alone and always has the crew to have his back. He enjoys nothing as much as really letting all the other worries go and plan and perform a well-done attack to targeted vessels. That's when he feels the most alive and that is what he thinks he is made for.
He has been like the same pretty much from the day he was born, pompous, loud and always ready to even the smallest quarrels between other kids around where he lived. He kind of never really fit to the place he grew up in Germania. As much as he is similar in good battle-skills with is brother, he really uses his skills totally differently from his brother. He actually enjoys the battles and even the training-days gave him the certain glint in his eye, something that could even be a bit unsettling to others, specially the ones who he was fighting against. He was often told that even if he was one of the top of his battle-training class, he had to calm down and try to use his energy differently.
As he grew stronger in his battle-skills, he still never really fit in with the organized and well-behaving people at his hometown. With his brother, they started to seem like a night and day in their actions. The well-disciplined and the hot headed. As a teen he finally made his decision of his life, after starting to notice how he really didn’t fit in: he ran away from home at one night, not caring to ever come back to the ‘boring’ lifestyle that he had always tried to get to accustomed to. That really didn’t fit with his huge ego, big mouth and the tendency to always get into a bit of trouble. He could never see himself having a life like his brother or lulling himself into the mellow life of the people in Germania.
He started his big journey to find who he wanted to be, what he was destined to be and slowly yet surely he drifted towards the ‘wrong groups of people’. Not exactly the ones on the straight path and always a bit to the shadowy side. After years went by he realized how he was drawn more into the piracy and how fascinating he found that occupation to be. It was more than just robbing people like low thieves, pirates seemed to have the class and the pride of their own. It seemed like a perfect calling for him and of course he set his goals to nothing less than aiming to be the captain of his very own ship some day.
He spent years after years aiming for this goal, never resting, and fighting his way to the top. It was a hard road, considering all the obstacles that one could face when dealing with the wrong side of the law. But in the end it all paid off and he earned the position he had been aiming for. He got his own ship, his precious Old Fritz and a crew he wouldn’t change to anything else. He keeps a tight hold of his position and lives the life he finally found out to be the most fitting for himself.
Other:
*Gilbert really has a thing for cute things, little birds mostly and his precious little pet is a little chick he always takes the best care of, of all the crew. The bird resides in a small cage next to his table in his Captains quarters. As Gilbert talks a lot out loud, even when alone, he usually likes to forward his words to his little bird, feeling totally natural to have ‘someone to talk to’. The bird practically knows more about him than his whole crew does. Not that, being a bird, it could ever tell anything forward.
*Captain Prussia has been keeping an ongoing journal for years, of all his travels, battles and just his fantastic daily life. All the journals are kept in a big cupboard in his cabin.
* Even if he’s a big mighty pirate captain and well known, one person he has never told about his ‘occupation’, is his brother. Somehow he doesn’t have a heart toll his little brother that he isn’t just a normal captain on some merchant ship, but a feared Pirate one. Of course there’s also the big fact that his brother is in high rank in Military and the whole military is after him. He’s really interested in finding out what his brother would do if he knew Gilberts occupation, but doesn’t dare to find out. Even when he has left his old life behind, he still cherishes his brother and seeing him at times. One of the few people who’s company he really likes and enjoys.
RP sample:
Gilbert was feeling anxious and nervous. Which was really weird thing to happen from him. He was never feeling those two emotions. They had always been so alien to him as he was relying on some really opposite ones in his life. But as he paced around in his own room in his ship, he was feeling those two emotions really strongly.
He stopped his pacing for a while and attacked to his desk once more. Maybe it had just dropped off the desk. Maybe he had been careless and his diary was just on the floor and he could laugh this off. But no such luck. No book that was the most important to him. Yes, there was not even a trace of his journal anywhere in the room. Sure, he had a cupboard filled with journals, his past ones he had already filled. But they weren’t this journal, this ongoing fabulous book of his memoirs, achievements and details of his days. Awesome all of them, of course. And even when it was just a journal among the others, it was HIS journal that was gone, HIS property and something he really didn’t want to get to wrong hands.
But right now…it was really too late to prevent that. It was way too late. Many hours later from the moment that little filthy thief had sneaked into Gilberts cabin, how Gilbert had caught the little sneak and how everything had gone upside down after that and the great pirate captain Prussia had only been left without a journal and a huge nasty bump to his head from where the damn sneaky street-urchin had hit him with the candleholder.
That had happened hours ago. But Gilbert really wished it had only been a dream and that if he really wished, he would wake up and all would be like it was. Yes, he took stealing of his possession really hard. Well..if you were a pirate captain and all your personal daily writings were stolen, wouldn’t everyone be a little iffy about the matter. Besides…Gilbert REALLY liked his own texts.
This was stupid and outrageous, both at the same time and the more Gilbert thought about it, the more stupid it seemed in his head. Who on earth…who in their right mind would ever steal anything from a pirate?! A famous, widely feared pirate Captain even! How could this kid be that stupid to sneak to the greatest pirate ship there is and then steal from the captain?! If the kid was so keen on getting killed by pirates, he could’ve just walked to Gilberts door and ask for it.
By now, Gilbert had walked to his desk and sat to his chair. He leaned back in it and the more he thought of this now, the nervousness was gone and he was feeling more like himself again. Who did this kid think he was?! Well, first of all, the jerk seemed to have no idea who he was dealing with! The great fabulous Captain Prussia was not to be played with! Oh no, he liked games, but not like this. Though just the thought of catching the little rat and coming up with the most interesting ways to make the kid to repay for what he had caused.
Well, what the Captain knew was, that these following times wouldn’t be boring. Anything but. They had ships to attack, things to steal, but even if it was the last thing he would do, Gilbert would get his journal back and show the kid who he was messing with. A wide grin spread to Prussia’s face as he turned to look at his little bird that always sat next to him in this room, in his little cage. Prussia grinned to it and threw a few peanuts from a small cup next to him toward the bird.
“It seems that we have a little mission of our own now.” He grinned with a little gleam in his eyes.
