Aleksander hadn't expected to be offered a position on a ship so suddenly, let alone to get his own (well kindof, a roommate was mentioned, right?) room and bored. He almost felt lucky, given the circumstances. After all, its not everyday that one gets his skin saved by a totally random stranger after getting into a massive, bloody as all hell in a hand-basket bar fight. And then turned around and offered a well paying, respectable job. That just didn't happen, especially in a place like Londonium, where it was dog-eat-dog.
He shook those thoughts away, blinking hard before settling his last trunk of stuff down infront of the intimidating door that stood infront of him. Aleks had been told that his 'roommate' was already inside, and he heard few shuffling noises outside the door. Aleks gulped before briskly wrapping his knuckles on the door, shuffling his many boxes and trunks to the side. He hoped that the man had no qualms about so much stuff, even if only half of it would be out at one time, or that he wouldn't give him a strange look when he pulled out his Magic Kit. Seriously, you buy /one/ cheapy kit for laughs during a drunk night out and keep it with you because you liked to bath in the rosemary that came with it, and suddenly your a freak.
Aleks snorted at the thought, straightening his coat and making himself seem presentable. After all, he wanted to be on semi-good terms with the man whom he'd be rooming with, as the chance for Aleks to actually socialize with pleasant company without the fear of getting pick-pocketed was rare. That, and Aleks had never really played nice with others, and bad social experience after the other made him shy away from new people. Going out of his way like this, with no one to buffer him and his new roommate, was . . . uncomfortable.
He waited a few moments, raping a little harder on the door this time, flexing gloved hands irritably. Didn't he overhear someone complaining about how ...Rubin, Rolland......Roderich, Roderich! How Roderich was this punctual aristocrat? This wasn't very punctual . . . .Or maybe he was just being pushy again. Mother always did say he was too impatient. He made a sour face, his usually blank face scrunching momentarily n disgust before he smoothed it back over again. No need to think of the old bat now, Alaksander.... he thought, fixing his eyes on concentration, ignoring a hovering Mr.Troll - jeez, he was always so protective, he needed a girltroll or something - and the squealing Muses', who for some reason or another were talking excitedly about the 'good-looking Captain'.
His gaze burned ever more at the door, willing it to open. Open, open, open up for me, now! God, he was getting more nervous by the second. . . .

If there was something Roderich disliked, it was when his personal property and space were invaded. Roderich felt uncomfortable with someone who got too close, finding it both improper and uncomfortable to himself. His previous experiences with roommates at school left a bitter taste in his mouth through countless fights over possessions and that incident with the crabs in his bed. However, the Enterprise wasn't that large of a vessel to contain all of the crew members, especially the new one that Alfred picked off the streets yesterday.
From what he had heard, the man arrived in a sorry state, covered from head to toe in blood and then his captain, naively, gave him a job. Roderich snorted as his Captain explained this to him earlier. Airmen were supposed to follow their commanders' orders, and Roderich wasn't one to break rules, but it seemed too risky to actually trust a man who appeared out of the blue. And Mr. Jones was young. Younger than him. The Captain could be admirable in some areas, but he couldn’t help but feel disappointed about how trusting Captain America was. Well, Roderich was not as trusting as his captain. He would make sure to keep two watchful eyes on the new crew member.
However, orders were orders, even if they were given more as a suggestion. And first impressions were impressions, so they must be excellent. That line of thought found Roderich scrubbing his little room spotless, his hair mussed back into place (straight) and a frown on his face. The roommate wasn’t due for an hour and he still needed work to do and then make his appearance normal. He couldn’t meet someone in his plain corduroys and cotton shirt and apron. He wasn’t even wearing shoes!
Within a few minutes, Roderich finished preparing the room for the man, what was his name, Aleksei..no, Aleksander Dahlem. “Odd name for a person. The last name’s a province in Germany so maybe I can actually talk to someone in the language.” thought Roderich as he wiped his brow. Having finished the cleaning, Roderich began to take his clothes out before he heard a knock.
Roderich’s heart almost stopped. Slamming the shelves full of clothing shut, he managed to squeak out a quiet “Minute!” before combing his back into it's waves, but only managing to make himself look slightly more disheveled. "This is not good,"yelled Roderich's mind. "I look like a serf, if not a vagabond!"
The knocking did not cease so Roderich gulped and, still in his cleaning clothes, apron, and no shoes to be spoken of, opened the door to greet his roommate.

There was a scuffle and bang heard in the room as he knocked for the last time, and he raised an eyebrow at a very, very subtle 'minute' he thought he might've heard. Maybe they were nervous too? Aleks perked up at the idea. Atleast they'd be awkward together, then! ....He shouldn't have been so happy about that, should he? Aleks jumped slightly as the door swung open, and viewed the man before him.
He was exactly the airy, prim man he had expected, but he did have the air of an aristocrat. A very pompous one at that! Aleksander wondered why in the world someone who was obviously so suited for....office work, He shuddered at the thought, would be stuck in a rinky little airship run by some crazy American? Aleksander stared for a few more moments before pulling himself out of his daydreams, shaking the fairy dust from his head and returning to reality.
He roughly stuck out his hand in greeting, and with a grunt, muttered in a surprisingly deep voice,"hello there, I am Aleksander Dahlem, the new navigator and pilot of this ship."
Oh, did that sound rude? muttered an airy little voice behind him, making him press his lips together in irritation. Jeez, Liv was so fucking insensitive sometimes. Little prick of a fairy! Wait, was that ungentlemanly to call a Ladyfairy a prick? He tilted his head in confusion, his thoughts floating away again before he noticed the Austrian again. He searched for something to say, mouth opening and closing a few times.
"Erh, um, Roderich, righ'? Could ya help me out 'ere.....lots of stuff, ya know....?" he stated bluntly, not even trying to hide the fact that not even he could carry and settle in all of this stuff in a timely manor. And what was it that boss had said, time was money, yes? Well he wouldn't be wasting money on silly things like moving in!
He eyed the room over the man's shoulder, and smirked. Well that was considerate of him, he thought as he studied the obviously newly scrubbed room. No other roommate would've gone through so much effort, so maybe...this guy would be alright. Maybe.
Don't get your hopes up, Allie~ sang Astra in an airy voice, running a little hand over his curl.
He frowned, wondering if his roommate already thought he was nuts, having darted his eyes around the place so many times already and had grunted and frowned in the odd pauses that followed. Oh well, atleast he'd have an honest introduction, right?

The man in the doorway did not look like the brute he imagined. He was taller than Roderich, but not by much. He didn’t look like the vagabond Roderich expected, the expression one the man’s face being blank, the only thing telling about his emotions was the slight frown at his lips and his dark blue eyes darted from sides so side, examining their surroundings. Roderich frowned as well. He didn’t particularly like being examined by someone, but he couldn’t deny that his situation called for it. His lips pursed at the sight of the strangely feminine man with a cross barrette in his hair. He didn’t know what to think from this first minute of seeing him.
A small look of surprise crossed Roderich’s orbs as he heard the deep voice. The voice was very strange to him, especially coming from the man, who looked softer than the voice he contained. Remembering his fine manners, Roderich briskly, but firmly shook the man’s hand. “A-ah, yes, First Lieutenant Roderich Edelstein, communications officer of the Enterprise. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
The next few minutes passed by in stunned silence as Roderich thought over of what he might say. Apparently his new roommate experienced the same problem since he opened and closed his mouth a couple of times. As Aleksander, yes, he supposed he should call him that now that they were introduced formally, asked him whether he could help. Nodding yes, Roderich moved to lie flat against the door to let the man inside the room.
“Yes, yes. Come in. I’ll gladly help move you items to their proper places. I tidied the room for your arrival.” After the man passed, Roderich cautiously left the door ajar, just to be safe, and went in the room to point to the empty bunk bed. “That is your bunk bed. It has no sheets, I trust you are able to provide for yourself.” Biting his lip, Roderich crossed his arms and waited for his roommate's reaction to the room. Roderich was nervous about this new addition to the crew, and his small room, and shooting an anxious look at the luggage, Roderich stated,"Well, we must hasten to settle your luggage, then?"

Aleksander slowly lowered his trunk onto the floor beside his striped bed, turning to Roderich and nodding slowly, giving him a tiny, tiny smirk. "Ja, ja, I 'ave some ol'sheet i can use fer that..." An awkward beat later. "...Thank ya very much fer rommin' with me, Roderich." He gave a short bow to the other before quickly skittering to get another trunk, settling it ontop of the other.
This was kindof nerve racking, having the Austrian peer at him almost curiously, expectantly. However, it didn't stop Aleksander from examining the room, cocking his head curiously around the almost perfectly clean room. The floors were all but shining, and even the stripped down bed looked brand new, the walls were in perfect condition. All of it, simply perfect. Aleks has to suppress a chuckle. Does this mean that he'd have a clean freak roomie? Which meant that he could possibly have an free housekeeper! No more doing three week old laundry!
He chuckled, nodding at Rodrich, "I can get it all, ya know? I'd rather ya help me unload off of this stuff. But be careful, some of its breakable..." He toted back in with another box of things, settling it down carefully and pointing, "This? DO NOT touch this please. Its'very breakable, kay?" He smoothed out his coat and went back for more of his things, sighing.

Roderich’s nose crinkled at the accent his “roommate” had. Clearly, this man wasn’t of upper-class stock. He watched his companion stack his trunks on top of each other, skittering. Was he making him uncomfortable by staring at him? Blushing, Roderich tried to look away from the taller man, staring at the walls. The walls were clean, but within a week he should give them another clean. Hopefully his roommate was just as appreciative of cleanliness as he was, unlikely as that was. Taking a looking at Aleksander’s clothes, a few threads out of place, Roderich sighed. That was unlikely.
“Oh, yes, or course.” Roderich answered the pilot. He didn’t add that he was very careful with fragile objects to begin with. Unfolding his arms and standing up straight from the wall he had been leaning on, Roderich followed the blonde out to the hallway to his lodgings. How much did the man even have? If this man cluttered, Roderich would have to wait for the man to be out one day before sorting out through all his things, organizing and disposing if unnecessary objects.
Peeking out of the doorway to where the pilot’s luggage and its owner were, Roderich voiced a question. “Would you like me to start unpacking now?” He opened one of the trunks, the non-fragile one, and raised an eyebrow at the clothes. They were so clumsily folded, why didn’t the man fold better to save space? Suddenly, it struck Roderich that he was still in his apron, so he hastily folded it and put it into his own drawers. His roommate apparently hadn’t noticed that particular piece of clothing, thank God, so he wouldn’t give him any more time to. The room wasn’t very large, containing room for a bunk, two bureaus, a desk, and a wall closet. Roderich sighed as he wondered how they’d be able to live in it together without rubbing each other the wrong way, physically and mentally.

Aleks noted the look on Roderich's face, and had to suppress giving him a dirty look himself. He knew that look very well, it was the look that high class snobs gave him when he introduced himself at a wealthy friend's party or a high class pub. Whatever, the new roomie would just have to get used to it or Aleks would just move into another room. He wasn't about to let this man judge him right off the bat just based off of looks. ....Why was he staring so intently at his back for? Did he have a spot on his suit that he had overlooked? A fray? What was that disapproving look for?!
Aleks turned and smirked a little at his roommate. "Thank ya, Roderich," his reply was a little stiff, but he DID put a little effort into being nice to this man. After all; he HAD tried very, very hard to get along with previous roomates, but it seemed that the sitff, gruff, and sometimes nasty first impressions tended to ruin their relationships. And for once, Aleks wanted none of that; this was a solid thing, and he wanted solid, atleast for the moment. So he grinned at Roderich as best he could and took the man's displeased stares as much as he could.
"Oh, tha' woul' be goo', if ya could, Roderich!" muttered Aleks, dragging in the next trunk and settling it on his bed. He inwardly flinched as he saw Roderich's scanning gaze file over the trunk, and tried his best to just ignore it, instead, going back out into the hall to gather the largest, and last bit of trunk. Struggling a bit, he heaved it onto the bedroom, and accidentally snorted as he saw Roderich suddenly stripping himself of that silly little apron he had been wearing. Aleks tried not to say anymore, and instead focused on unpacking and small talk. "So, uh, may i jus' set m'things any where there's room? Or would ya rather i jus' keep to my side of th'room?" He jestered a little to the obviously empty side of the room, and then eyed the almost-completely clear desk and wardrobe. What? Did this man not like nit-nacks lying around or anything of the sort?
